The 2nd event by HCM City Handicraft & Wood Industry Association (HAWA) - Vietnam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair _ VIFA 2009 will be held on March 11- 14, 2009 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh city, one of the biggest and most modern newly-built centres in South of Vietnam, only 15 minutes from the downtown and 30 minutes from the Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
The 1st Vietnam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair _ VIFA 2008 was regarded very successful as it attracted the participation of 150 local and overseas exhibitors with 550 displaying booths and 13,858 visitors, among them 5,636 are international buyers and importers. 69 contracts were signed worth of tens of million US dollars and numerous memorandums were seen. A leader of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee stated at the fair: “Though held for the first time by a business association, VIFA was very successful as it attracted a lot of foreign visitors, potential distributors, and representatives of foreign consulates in Vietnam”.
VIFA 2009 is expected to gather over 800 booths of 250 local and international manufacturers displaying more than 5,000 products on an exhibition scope of 20,000 square-metres, including all kinds of furniture, covering a full spectrum ranging from living room, bedroom, dining room furniture to outdoor, office furniture and other related products. In addition, woodworking machinery and equipment as well as interior furnishing and accessories will be an important part of the show.
In the frame of the event, the Lotus and the Apricot Design Awards will be announced and awarded. This is the 3rd for Lotus and 4th for Apricot which are ones of most honorable prizes of its kind in the country.
Other supporting activities during the show include technical seminars, B2B meetings, and factory tours. For this time and aiming at enhancing trade promotion effectiveness, the Organizer is publishing a publication titled “Vietnam Furniture Directory” as an indispensable search tool for all international importers who want to purchase goods from Vietnam. It’s necessary to add that Vietnam wood industry in recent years has greatly developed, making Vietnam one of the two major wooden product export countries in South East Asia.
Up till now, there have been 120 international guest delegation registering to visit VIFA 2009, most of them coming from the US, Canada, EU and South East Asia.
HAWA is a business association established in 1991. The association is a voluntary organization of 300 members operating in wood and handicraft industry. It links members’ strength and represents their legitimate interests. HAWA Corp. is a member of it and directly affiliated to the organization and is appointed the official event manager.
